the organization EQUALITY conducted a meeting with Mr. Orce Gjorgjievski, the mayor of Kisela Voda Municipality, as part of its ongoing initiative, “Zen 2.0 Caravan – Young Leaders of the Communities.”
The meeting was attended by a team of young leaders from Skopje who have embarked on an initiative aimed at fostering positive changes in their city. During the meeting, the young leaders had the opportunity to introduce the project to the Mayor and share the progress achieved thus far.
The “Zen 2.0 Caravan” project serves as an initiative, which aims to provide young individuals with the platform to enhance both their personal and professional skills. This is achieved through active participation in mentoring forums, empowering them to apply their acquired skills and engage proactively within their community. In the project’s initial phase, a team of up to four young individuals was assembled, which demonstrated a demand for change. Through their dedication and perseverance, they showed that it is possible to enact meaningful transformations in society. Following the forum, these young leaders autonomously selected a local challenge, opting to address and overcome the issue of creating tactile paths for visually impaired individuals.
The young leaders from Skopje, with the support and mentorship of the organisation EQUALITY, submitted a meeting request to the Municipality of Kisela Voda, and we were pleased to learn that the request was accepted. During the meeting with the Mayor, the young leaders from Skopje introduced the project and shared their ideas for implementing positive social changes aimed at enhancing the overall quality of life in the community. The Mayor expressed openness and a willingness to engage in collaborative efforts with the young leaders. Furthermore, he showed enthusiasm to explore potential solutions for realising the proposed changes with social significance.
The opportunity to meet with Mayor Mr. Orce Gjorgjievski serves as a motivating factor for the young leaders from Skopje, encouraging them to persist in initiating and actively pursuing positive changes. The established collaboration between the youth and the local authorities serves as evidence that through joint efforts and engagement, it is possible to contribute to the creation of better conditions and higher quality of life for all citizens.
The ongoing partnership between the organisation EQUALITY and Kisela Voda Municipality will extend into the subsequent phases of the project, as well as within the framework of the Festival for Inclusion. This positive experience will serve as an example for other municipalities across the country.
